Apoptosis detection kit for ADAM™II LS uses Annexin V-PE and DAPI to distinguish four cell states: live, early apoptosis, late apoptosis, and necrosis.

Apoptosis is a programmed cell death process that occurs when cells are damaged by stressors like viruses or DNA damage. In contrast, necrosis is an unplanned, passive cell death caused by external factors such as toxins or physical injury.

It is possible to accurately measure not only the numbers of total cells, viable cells, non-viable cells, and viability, but also the cell size by using an advanced algorithm of cell counting and analysis.











Staining method




Apoptosis detection kit uses Annexin V-PE and DAPI to distinguish different stages of cell death

During early apoptosis, Annexin V-PE binds to phosphatidylserine exposed on the outer leaflet of the cell membrane. 
DAPI, which cannot penetrate intact membranes, stains the nuclei of membrane-compromised cells, enabling detection of late apoptosis and necrosis.
